The only way it could pop out like that if it had be too much play in the suspension.

How supple are the CV boots? Wonder if they could put enough tension on the clip to pop the shaft out? Especially if you hit a bump that cycled the suspension wildly.

Did you get this back in for good with a new clip? I had the same thing happen.

Did some research on diffs, can i use a e39 m5 lsd carrier in my rear diff?

Are they both 210mm diff case?

I know the ratio is different

Did you ever find out about the e39 m5 rear diff?

I've read an article somewhere saying to avoid LSD on the rear of E53 as it creates too much under steer. Google will probably find the article if you are serious. Front LSD seems to be an improvement, but apparently requires some modification to the axles...

I Bet some certified mechanic did some work on your rear suspension or maybe brakes?
Certified mechanics specially the ones from the steeleships are notorious for messing up cars...

I rebuilt the whole rear suspension myself, I overlooked checking if the cv shaft popped out when I had it all apart, easy to overlook

it has been over a year now, no problems at all.

I had the very same issue 300 miles after a suspension refresh. The shaft will hold for a while and then eventually back out to the point that the splines disengage. After replacing the clip I flushed some small filings out then refilled the diff with fresh fluid. I will drive for a little while and dump this fluid again. Hoping to find a plug with a magnet.
