Small Oil Leak

I found a small puddle of oil underneath the X near the front right engine. I've already replaced the valve covers, upper timing case and Vanos gaskets. The generator was replaced this past January and I have to assume they replaced the bracket gasket when they did that work. What else could it be? Oil Pressure Switch or Vacuum pump gaskets?

Would it be OK to take the reinforcement plate off and leave off, clean the area and drive around to locate the leak?

Negative, replaced those also. It's definitely oil, not D4

Could be the upper oil pan gasket, if so it's not an easy fix, keep looking, they're so many potential leak points on the V-8 engines. I've had had my stiffener plate off the past four years with no ill effects trying to track down all the oil leaks.

BMW should just call it a Drip Pan

I just recently chased down my last two (hopefully) oil leaks down to the vacuum booster pump gaskets (within the last month or so) and most recently the oil pressure switch over the last weekend!

I think I've got em all now!!

Good job! I didn't know there was a such thing as a vacuum booster pump, where is it located on the V-8 engine? I have a 4.6 by the way, but it should be the same. I'll have to check my oil pressure switch, I assume it's an o-ring?

I've got the N62 engine. On that engine the booster is located under front upper timing cover on the passengers side.
