Question OEM Aero kit

As my recent post indicated I am a new member with a new X5 4.4. I am in the process of ordering the OEM Aero kit through my dealer and would like to know what fellow members thought of the Oem kit and accessories I could opt for without having it look like something out of Pimp My Ride. I am not a flashy person but I would like it to look a bit different. thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Cheers

I prefer the 4.6/4.8 look but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Go for the basics

I agree with previous post, I mean if you are dont want the Pimp My Ride look, then get 4.6i or 4.8 kit, If you have pre facelifted 2000-2003 X5 then you will have to go with 4.6kit, other wise if you have 2003 or above get 4.8kit....also go with the following
OEM Replica 20" Rims and Tires (Go with AFS Wheels on ebay,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AFS-B...28298781QQrdZ1)

4.6is Body Kit: if you want to skim on the cost dont get the 4.6 flares, just get front and rear pieces: You will need the part numbers listed below
51-11-7-062-604 COVER
51-12-7-062-601 COVER
51-12-7-062-599 COVER
51-12-7-062-600 COVER
(All parts unpainted $530 from morristownbmw (contact info is below), and then $250 or so to Paint)
Aluminium Running Boards ($500 from morristown bmw, contact info is below)
Clear Out your headlight, by taking Amber portion out of side and install angel eyes if you dont already have.

BTW just found out about bmw dealer in north east who will beat any others bmw dealers prices and yes that includes even the praised "Crevier BMW and Pacific" of California(they are trying to make there presence known on internet). So if you dont live in Cali and are going to be ordering as opposed to local pic up then go with Nick at MorrisTown BMW, they can get you any OEM Part you need at rock bottom price

I had originally wanted the oem aero kit too, but after much research and reflection on how I want my car to look, I went for the 4.8i body kit and couldn't be happier with the decision.

I also almost bought a 3.0D with the Aero kit but it had the style 87 20" wheels. If you are going to gofor it,you really MUST have the 20"s!
Personally,I prefer the 4.6/4.8 look that I have, as I find the fenders in the Aero kit too bulgy!

Thank you for that information! That's actually where I bought my X5 two weeks ago. It seemed to be a very nice place. Quite busy.
I'm going there in 2 weeks to have the driver door actuator fixed or replaced. Maybe I'll grab some more accessories while I'm there. Not sure what yet, but I know to ask for NICK now.
Thanks again.

Thanks for all the useful information guys. I had thought about he 4.8 kit but my sales guy told me that the 4.8 kit will not fit mine, he said that that the exhaust pipes wont fit. Its clear from all of your comments that the bloke doesnt know what he is talking about. I am going to call Morristown Bmw since it seems that they have a better understanding of what kit will work. Thanks again mates.
