X5 4.4 audio upgrade advice

Hi guys

New to the forum, just got myself a 4.4 e53, so far i am loving it but the audio is terrible and outdated.

It has the smaller satnav screen with a cassette. There is a cd changer (doesnt work) in the boot with a navigation cd drive.

I would like to upgrade this to a double din unit with built in sat nav. A quick check on the forum shows this isnt as simple as i had hoped, a quick check in the boot and i cant find a subwoofer amd neither can i see the word dsp on the nav unit.

What is the best way to go about an upgrade, i will be changing the front speaker to a set of components powered by an amplifier.

All help is greatly appreciated

You'll want to plug in your vehicle info to make sure you get the right thing, but GROM probably makes what you want.

There also may be the OEM option that plugs into the back of the head unit and adds an 1/8" aux input, but doesn't give you track control like the GROM.

You could really help us out by telling us more info about your vehicle.

I don't know. It might be. Is it approved for your car? Having the same physical connection doesn't necessarily mean it is wired the same way.
