I love finding these old, relevant threads.

I got a license plate lamp fault this morning. Pulled the lens, bulb had some flash on it. Noticed that there was moisture in the cavity. All the contacts looked nice and clean, no corrosion visible. Installed a new bulb, no luck, still out, while it's companion works fine.

Guess I'll be diving into this now. What is the likely ingress point for the water here?

Thanks!

You'll have to pull the tailgate handle to find the corrosion or broken wires causing the problem. Honestly though, having disassembled the handle myself, it might be easier to simply replace it.

Its £125.00 in the UK for the Rear trunk handle, I am not bad with electronics, I am going to pull the handle, unclip it take the board out and clean everything up, if it needs need wires I will solder new ones. That way it will cost me 60p for some wire and solder rather than over a hundred buck. I might well end up buying a new park and then swapping out the inners to the original cover.

I will get some photos, if it works I will right up a how to, If it doesn't... I will add to CrystalWorks comments i.e - Don't sod about with it and just by a new part.
