Floor under Weathertech mats is wet
On both driver & passenger sides. It really caused a problem with the electrics - turn signal, radio, CD player, because of condensation on cold parts.
I don't know if it's the snow somehow getting past them, or something else. It was on both the driver and passenger side, which is strange. I'll look on the roof for any potential leaks, but another possibility might be the area in front of the windshield isn't draining, causing backup into the passenger compartment. I've GOT to get this SOLVED! |

Make sure all the drains are clear. Especially in the sunroof area.

My driveway has a slope to it and when I go up it (or go for a spirited drive) the mats empty out. The fronts empty out at the rear of the mat closet to the door (this is a poor design imo) and the rears even with the big lip overflow. I have the weathertechs and kids, so the mats are always full. And the carpets are wet. So I throw towels down to soak it all up. But chek your drains too

While at the hotel where my son goes to school I sopped up the water with towels graciously provided by the Hilton Garden Inn and let the car idle with the liners removed and the heater on full blast, rear windows cracked slightly for airflow. It dried out pretty well, but I noticed something else - after an hour of idling with the heater on, the air wasn't particularly warm. So I'm going to take it to an indy to check operating temp and thermostat. Also, the temp gage was not straight up and down as normal, but just past the first hash. A stuck t-stat would also explain worse than expected mileage.
I filled the hotel ice bucket with water and poured it on the sunroof, windshield, and air intakes at the base of the hood. No leaks that I could see-a good sign. This may just be a case of too much snow and my son not paying a lot of attention to the situation. But now he wants to drive the E70... |

Leak onto floor coupled to lack of heating could be your heater core (under centre console dash). Would also explain the electrics going haywire as all your wiring sits directly under the heater core.

Yes, could be. Although the water didn't smell like antifreeze, and there were actually a couple of spots on the carpet that were still frozen when I started the drying-out process. So a leaky heater core isn't the prime suspect, but still a suspect.

Check the sunroof drain lines that run through the a-pillars. You may find they have ejected themselves and are pouring water in the a-pillar rather than under the car like they are supposed to. Been there. Done that!

Like this......see? They wiggle themselves out of their proper places and then pour water into the dash and into the floor. This was a pic of mine last spring.

The picture was just like my problem. The driver side was clogged but not the passenger. The drain tube did fall off the clips and kinked towards the bottom.
Just like cn90, I used weed trim line and fed it through the hole and measured about where it stopped and sure enough it was in the middle of the A pillars. I pushed the drain tube down to line up where the clips would normally be clipped to the lines. Lined them back up and clipped them back. I poured some water down the hole again to test and sure enough it was pouring at the bottom of the car. Just to note, I did notice there was black tape on the tube taped to the frame so not sure if that was placed from the factory or if this repair was performed before. After the repair, I read the rest of the posting and wish I would have performed the additional work like garrett.fell to prevent further problems as |
