F15 LED FogLight retro-fit

Hello,

I've been wanting to do this for a while, but not sure how easy it is to do. I found these on eBay:

2X NEW ORIGINAL LED Foglights Fog lights For Bmw X3 F25 X5 F15 7317252 | eBay

or the night vision variant ones:

2014 BMW X5 NON LED STYLE LEFT & RIGHT FOG LIGHT SET NICE! | eBay

Does anyone know the process it would involve to retrofit these to an E70? (Want to do this to my 2007). I currently have 6k HIDs, but not too keen on them anymore as I love the look of the new fogs Also considering retrofitting the LCI headlights like on my 40D, I tried multiple angel eye bulbs but none come close to OEM LCI brightness

Thank you

I bought those about 1 1/2 years ago with the same intention. The LED ones just take 12 V to power up, but the mounting options were to limited for me and I ended up selling them. They are almost the same size to fit into the opening in the bumper, but if you have an LCI model, it may be easier to figure out a mounting solution.

BTW, you can get them way cheaper here

The second ones are LED too, do not buy those, they are adaptive and require an external driver to even light the LEDs. There was a whole long thread over at the retrofitsource.com about them

The night vision fogs won't work: they have a different connector. 8 pin or something.

The F15 fogs are H11... I have 2 pairs of them but did not find the time to do anything with them.

Thanks guys,

So the standard LED ones are plug and play without any additional coding and wiring? I'm not too worried about the mounting points, I can make it work, I was only worried about the connectors.

Yes,
they're a direct replacement for the halogens. Common H11 Connector.

But you will get a Error Message, thus you either need to code out the bulb check or use a Error Canceler/ Resistor.

Are there not good enough LED bulbs out there that you could use instead of replacing the whole assembly?

You sure can,
but the OEM LED Assembly actually works...
The light output is immense and actually does it's job compared to some $20 LED bulbs.

And above link shows them available for $60 a pair, which is cheaper and sure better than some Weisslicht bulbs for $90

Did anyone get these to work on any pre LCIs? Do they bolt on to the old mounting points or even fit into the old mounting holes?

They work, but you get the bulb out warning. Mounting points are different.

I can live with modifying them to mount somehow, Im just concerned about the depth and also the opening. The foglights actually fit into the opening of pre LCI X5s?
