I paid $281 for the pump and $99 for the thermostat,I replaced it myself but it is very time consuming, in my case I had to remove one side of the engine mount and jack it up to get it out.

Not bad! Doing it myself was an option. But had to try to take advantage of the ESP.

The mileage on the car was 81,870 when the water pump went kaput. Wonder what's next

I also replaced my relay for the pump, just in case, it was inexpensive

Give a time estimate for the job... actually give a "first time" as well as a "if I did it again". Always interesting...

It took about 8 hours, because it was different than the DIY I saw, and the Bentley manual was not clear, but now I can do it in about 3 hours, I will definitely do it myself again

Oh my mistake, that was my fuel pump, the water pump was $436 from FCPEuro
It was Bmw genuine pump

Oh, I see.

Regarding the fuel pump - I actually just received a letter from BMW saying there is a recall on the fuel pump. If i have any problems fuel pump related, the dealer would fix and replace it for free.

Really? I just changed mine, it left me stranded inside the Holland tunnel.

Yup! I called BMWNA last week to confirm it. I want to get it done as a precaution, but not sure if they'll do it if i'm not having any issues...

If you speak to them , I think you can get reimbursed for what you spent on the parts.
