Dealer Diesel Oil Change

The standard X5 oil change is around $130. The Diesel oil change is listed as $290 online. I'm bringing the car in for SES light (standard P20EE) next week as it's still under CPO, so I was thinking about having them do the oil too. Does anyone know why it's more than double for diesel. I'd like to have the info before I talk to them. $hit like this is why I do my own service...

Changing the oil on these vehicles is extremely easy. Don't know why you would pay someone to do it in any event.

Likely they include DEF refill. But why don't you just ask the dealer?

True, I've done it many times. But it would be convenient for me while it's in there for a CEL. ...convenient at a price point of $120, not $290.

That's what I'm trying to figure out.

That may be the case. I just wanted to know if BMW now recommends some special diesel oil that's $25/quart. I like to have the info before I call them because they will state things like it's law and I don't want to get tricked into thinking I need something. BMW TwinPower oil states it's for Diesel/Gasoline engines so that's a good sign.
I'll let you guys know what I find.

The LL-04 oil is about $8.50 qt, less with the CCA discount. Takes 8 qts.

Amazon or Ebay has the oil change kits for about $90 shipped. Get that and do it yourself, save $200 bucks.
