Ive actually found the E70 does not react well to the Lux's style tip where the LEDs around the post are at th 2/4 and 8/10oclock positions.
it much more efficeintly lines up with the outter rings Glass reflection tube if they are evenly spaced

they just do good marketing on the forums
You're right...because tossing $30 after $30 after $30 into shitty LED lights is the more sensible way to go about it.

I've had cheap LEDs on my X5 M and they were garbage, just like that picture posted above. Absolutely no light in the outer rings...yeah sure, they light up when it's pitch black...turn on the headlight and it's bye bye...

Since I've spent money on the Lux I've never looked back.

Not sure what LUX you've been using but if you're saying the 160s are as bad, or worse than some EBay LEDs, you're FOS...

I'm in no way, shape, or form affiliated with these guys...

To the OP, I'd suggest you try the 160s and see for yourself, if you don't see the difference you can always return them.

EDIT: I will leave my original statement here but I will say this...the X5 M does have the E71 (X6/M) headlights so it's possible that they look better in that application...they are slightly smaller than the E70 assembly...but I still stand by what I said about the product.

ive had mine for 2 years.
i know more than 5 people locally who have had Lux die on them so consider yourself lucky.
i tested my "shitty LEDS" side by side with the V4s and they were no better.
Then i tested one that is the same as the V5, more than a year before those Lux ones came out, and as i said before the LED position is not good for the E70 headlights, which I also confirmed with someone who had the authentic V5s locally a few months ago

and for anyone contemplating the color changing ones i suggest against them.
unlike the E9x platform, the E70's inner ring the angel eye bulb is positions visibly in the middle of the inner "projector". this makes it act as a running light both within that projector and directing the light into the rings.
if you use any of the color setting in between full white and full blue, you will clearly see the individual blue lights standing out.

I can't speak for any of the older generations of LUX LEDs, my opinion is strictly based on the 160s...and like I said, this pertains more to the E71, technically.

It's possible that I've been lucky so far but I've only had them installed for about 6 months, issue free...
I've had a lot of trouble with Umnitzas on my 4.8iS...those would die pretty often (at least twice a year)...they did always take care of me but still...

I agree with you there, I wouldn't recommend the V5s either...

anyone know of any decent warm white LEDs that are worth having tho? i kinda like the halogen look in the halos, works better with the colour of my car. their lifespan is shite and at $20 a pop for a poxy halogen H8 i'd be more inclined to replace them with something longer lasting if such a thing even exists.

My bad dude, I apologize...your ride is clean...but I had to use it as an example because assumptions like 'an LED, is an LED, is an LED' need to be avoided.

I could not take a direct picture like that of my front end, in that shade...the brightness would drown out the camera...in DIRECT sunlight, the inner rings are fairly visible, however, the outer ones do get lost...that's due to the design of pre-LCI headlights, as pointed out before.

haha its ok I thought it was funny. You really are right that you just can't get the outer ring to light up right. As many LEds as I have tried and as good as the latest ones I've tried look on the inner ring.. in comparison to a 2012+ with the factory LED setup, the glaring difference is with the outer ring. Almost makes me want to go back to halogen..

To be honest, it took me forever to do anything about mine...I really liked the look of the factory halogens...they are a lot more visible in sunlight than the LEDs...maybe because of the color/warmth?

Besides, every car maker and their mother is doing LEDs these days...pretty much have to go halogen to stand out anymore...

You could probably get the LUX V5s to do factory yellow but I think the halogens will look better at the end of the day...and are way cheaper.
