DIY VANOS SOLENOID replacement (intake/exhaust) 2007 X5 3.0si

Anyone every replaced their own Vanos Solenoids. Was considering doing myself and getting a unit to clear the fault codes. Anyone have any experience with this?

before replacing just clean with curb cleaner and attach power from battery during spraying cleaner, it maybe jammed.
It works in 90%.

I see. Thanks. I just bought this car and when I took it to my mechanic he suggested first just doing an oil change with liqui molly just to make sure I've got a good high quality oil with a good detergent in there. He says that might actually help to clean it out. Thoughts?
