07-11 In-tank fuel pump recall
NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V-746 Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP Potential Number of Units Affected: 136,188 Problem Description: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 BMW X5 3.0si, X5 4.8i, X5 M, X5 xDrive30i, X5 xDrive35i, X5 xDrive48i and X5 xDrive50i, 2008-2011 X6 x Drive35i, X6 xDrive50i and X6 M, 2010-2011 X6 ActiveHybrid, 535i xDrive Gran Turismo, 535i Gran Turismo, 550i xDrive Gran Turismo and 550i Gran Turismo, 2011-2012 528i, 535i, 535i xDrive, 550i and 550i xDrive and 2012 535i ActiveHybrid, 640i Convertible, 650i Convertible, 650i xDrive Convertible, 650i Coupe and 650i Coupe xDrive vehicles. The affected vehicles have in-tank fuel pumps that may have insufficiently crimped wire contacts. Consequence: The loose wires may cause the connector to melt, resulting in a fuel leak. Additionally, the fuel pump may stop working, possibly causing an engine stall and increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 5, 2016. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.Full Details: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs...6V746-6303.pdf

Well it's about time! I had to have my fuel pump replaced right after I bought mine. Fortunately the extended warranty covered it. I'd complain to BMW that they should recall it back then but they did nothing.

My recollection is that this fuel pump is currently on a 10-year extended warranty. They are now recalling the wire ?? Perhaps BMW should just replace the fuel pumps to get it over with.
Hopefully when it is my turn, I can do all the recalls at the same time - driver air bag, passenger air bag, wire &/or fuel pump, plus whatever will be coming up in the next couple of months. LOL |

The 10yr warranty is the HPFP, the high pressure direct injection pump.

Any other recalls? where do we find these?
Beyond fuel pump-wires any other recalls?
Where are such recalls posted online? |

I have a 2007 x5 4.8 .... I looking up by vin I do NOT see a recall for the fuel pump-wires looking up by 2007 x5 4.8 I do find as the posting here says the car should be in the group. I do know the prior owner had fuel pump wiring issues, I will go pull the bmw paper work I have on that.
I do find when I lookup by vin I do find a front airbag-inflator recall. |

As I vaguely remember, the problem with the HPFP was related to the wire module as well. Is it too much of a coincidence that both HPFP and LPFP had the same problem? |

Keeping You Safe | Safercar | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) The X5 is listed twice for some reason, "X5" and "X5 SAV". There are two under X5 and four under X5 SAV for 2007. The SIBs are listed under Manufacturer Communication, to the right of the recalls.

Thats what I was thinking, but the way I figure, I'm still quite a few months out from the airbag recall. I understand they cant get parts fast enough.
