Rear Door Handles (exterior) sticking open

I noticed that the rear door handles are becoming stuck in the 'open" (fully extended) position. When the door is opened, the handle remains extended.....I have heard about this issue but with internal handles....any suggestions?

OP can you confirm you ride specs? I own E53 and the symptoms described are generally caused by a broken door handle carrier. In any case should be a fun and cheap DIY to undertake

Both of my front door handles do this. I haven't tried fixing it yet. They probably need some lube.

It's likely the cable b/w handle and the latch. Moisture gets in, it corrodes and gets stuck. Replaceable.

I had that issue on my last e70...added some silicone to the slider when the door handle was pulled out...never came back.
