BMW Windshield Washer Fluid

OK I searched but did not find - could it be that windshield washer pumps on BMWs only live long lives with BMW fluid in the tank? I suffered repeated washer pump replacement on my E53 but at least that was easy. The E70 was ridiculous given where the tank is located. Those of you who have done this replacement know what I mean.
So is there something in regular washer fluid that causes pump failure? I've always just poured the blue stuff in, or the orange RainX stuff. Can BMW really be ignoring improved reliability for all these years?
Thoughts?

1-No
2-No
3-Yes!

Do you change the grommets when you replace the dead pumps?

I had to replace the failed pumps a while ago.

When I opened up the dead BMw pump, not to my surprise, the fluid had passed through the grommets, corrupted and affected the electrical motor in the pumps severely, resulting in a electrical malfunction.

So grommets! ( in general, seals, sleeves, gaskets, O rings) are the parts that BMW ignores their quality.

Any washer fluid with a BMW rating of WW-04 is fine.
