Uh, Oh!!

I'm eying a 2013 E70 (X5 xDrive35i) and I'm really concerned about the twin turbo setup and how long they will likely last. The vehicle has 75K on it now and while the CEO will only put <5K per year on the vehicle I still do not want to run into massive headaches in the future.
How well do they do and around what mileage do start to really see the spending start?
How many of you out there are around and over that mileage and what has been your experience with failures and repair costs?
TIA

My 2013 has 71k on it now and runs flawlessly. As for the turbo its not a twin turbo on the 2013 35i its a twin scroll single turbo. Should be pretty reliable.

The power out and gas mileage is pretty impressive.

i don't think the E70s had the N54 engine at all. they should all be single turbos. valve covers, water pump, turbo seals, wastegates. that's pretty much all i'm aware of on those engines.

You've been around the block enough to know this is an impossible/silly question...

The 35 is probably the most reliable, long term. Statistically speaking.

Which is the devil in the question.... there is no 'one time' when they all start failing. There isnt 'one thing' that always fails. Many cars will last 300k with oil changes. And many cars will be money pits from day one.

No way to say which yours will be.

Oh, Ive prolly read 40k posts on the E70, dont think Ive read about a blown turbos. They arent 'new fangled contraptions' any more.

GL!

Thanks to all for the replies so far. I'm still narrowing down which vehicle to purchase. Wide terms 2013 with premium/cold weather packages. CEO/CFO like warm hands and her comfort. She also now want a BMW. We just sold her 4Runner to start this process. Did not really like the V8 AWD Limited 4Runner. This was especially so after she broke the transfer case last year. ($3800 Big OUCH!)

I’m happily married, thanks. As a CPA, when I hear CFO or CEO I think chief executive/financial officer.

That would be his WIFE (AKA: CFO/CEO).
