Taking a quick look at the pin out for the DME...my quick browse sees at least two signals (Pins #4 & #19) in connector X60004 that send a signal to the E-box fan. So perhaps the fan comes on when some specific condition occurs and is turned on by the DME:

Thought about that but if there's 2 signals and that it flips on when the ecu tells it to, I don't believe I will get any readings if it's not on at the time, no?
