wipers and self levelling suspension

Hi

I've got a wired problem on my 2008 X5 sport. Occasionally when driving I get self leveling suspension fault displayed followed by front and rear wipers slowly moving. This happened twice today after I've pressed AUTO on climate. I know it sounds wired but unless total coincidence I cannot see why it would do that.

Both rear bags were replaced last year together with front springs. Car does not sag nor compressor is on when parked.

Any ideas?

Short update. It appears to be something to do with power supply. Today when I try to close both rear windows even when they shut I get 'level control system failure! and wipers moving slowly at front and back.

The car starts OK and there is no abnormal power surge message. So I cannot suspect the battery yet.

....Wipers, self leveling and door - common point is front fuse box. So I've opened it and just wiggled a few relays and connector in the middle. Seems OK now.

Still not to happy as it may come back. Has anybody seen this before?

That does sound odd. Easiest place to start would be checking the alternator and the battery. You didn't say your mileage, or engine, but in an 08 I could definitely see it being a voltage supply issue from the alternator if weird electrical gremlins start popping up.

Yeah these cars have really sensitive electronics. The symptoms of our dying battery was the clock and trip odometer kept resetting and I think we lost some other settings when the car sat for a few hours. Never ever had issues starting, but did start getting excessive power consumption warnings.

I would get a scanner or one of those cigarette lighter adapters that allows you to monitor voltage while running and see if there's anything obvious going on.

Driven it now for 40 miles seems OK. My clock shows time OK so battery must be in good health
