Do a search on Crowz posts. He has an obd temp gauge mounted in place of the laft air side vent. If memory serves it runs around $350 but if ya wants a gauge and really must have it......

Thanks but I don't really want that excess hanging out in my cockpit. I will do without.

these are nice.. BMW E70 / E71 - P3 OBD2 Multi-Gauge - P3 Cars

I use the torque app with an old iphone 5. I leave it in plugged even when it's parked for a few days overnight and haven't noticed any issues with it. Though, I rarely check the temps now since I've noticed temps only went up idle or low speed and the fans would turn on. So the fans kinda signal me to keep the car moving until water cools down before shutting off.

i have a thermometer for 2 rooms and a carbon monoxide alarm. am i a maniac? lol

That's because the buyers today for luxury cars tend to go for stupid gadgets and the style/prestige over actual substance.

They want to keep you coming back to the dealership so they can "diagnose" your idiot light issue.

And even when one of their cars do have a temperature meter, it suspiciously sits dead center between the blue C and red H. It worked like clockwork: five minutes into the drive and there it was. Vehicle was a 2019 540i xDrive. Nice car but a stupid one, too.
