Reversing camera only works in cold weather

Hi Guys,

I have an E70 LCI with a reversing camera (top view), and the rear camera only works in cold weather (less than 10 degrees C / 42F).

I have replaced the rear camera to no effect.

The symptom is the screen in the console goes blue, and can't see out the reversing camera.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Not sure if I need to replace wiring (maybe has moisture/hairline crack/similar), or replace ECU?

If I replace the ECU, I think that will be expensive.
I'd have to recode it too wouldn't I? (I have an ICOM, but have never used it)..

Please sing out if you have experience of this/advice...

Cheers,
OZTme

Well .. I have the same car.. and I hope it never happens to me.. but logically speaking.. if your I drive is fine.. and screen itself is fine.. and you changed the camera already.. the only thing left is the driver aside footwell module..or its pins.. so remove it . Check the pins.. and check the module board for any desolder.. let’s hope it’s that.. it’s an easy fix..

This is a common problem. There is a TSB (service bulletin) about it somewhere. Our camera exhibits this same behavior when summer temperatures hit. The fix from what I have read is to replace the cable that runs from the camera to the control unit. Tedious job from a labor perspective. Don't remember if it involves replacing the camera too. Don't think so though.
