Quick update road assistance jumped the car
I'm reading 14.7 on my cig lighter meter. It shows voltage It seems I pressed the trunk latch leaving the 2 rear lights on over night . Do you guys recommend replacing the battery since it died once now :/ |

Before I’d drop a couple hundred on a new battery I might try putting it on a slow charge over night and testing it in the morning, worst case it tests bad and you still have to buy a battery, best case a slow charge works and you buy yourself some time.
Were you having issues before you left the hatch open and had it drained? If not, go with the slow charge first and try your luck. |

Thank you for replying and no I have not had any issues battery related till now I can't do a slow charger since I live in an apartment overnight anyone can take it I'm at 14.2 with car on. I will drive it for a while hope the alternator charges it fully Thank you I just don't want to have to Jump it be stranded in the future since I know when a battery dies it kills cells |

I would drive it for 40 minutes or so at a reasonable rpm, try to take a lap around your outer belt or something like that so the rpms stay constant. And vs being jumped again maybe grab a small starter box from your local parts store and toss it in the rear storage compartment- I’ve seen them with the cigarette light type adapters also so it would be easy to use.
Good luck |

Remove the battery and charge it with a charger that will do reconditioning cycle. (like a ctek 7002)

Charging the battery through one of the 12 volt sockets (cig lighter socket)...is not recommended by BMW since they shut down when the vehicle goes into sleep mode.

Agreed, I was suggesting using it as a starter box vs a charger if the OP ran in to a situation where the car wouldn’t turn over again. - Plug it in, let the car sit for 5/10 minutes and crank her over. I wouldn’t recommend it as a long term solution, using it again and again, but one and done to get to the parts store I would be ok with. |
