The screaming is something of many BMW's, I had it on my 3.0 M54 and on the 4.8. Different, but still typical.
On the M54B30 The crank case ventilation 'pot' with tubes can be replaced without removing the intake. It's not very easy but 'doable'. however, I usually replace more than just that what failed. As it tells something about other parts. So the second time I had to replace that 'pot' I did take off the cover and replaced the coolant/interior heating tubes too (these crack at the connection to the block) and cleaned the throttle valve/ idle valve as well. Check the dipstick tube and so on. So when the 4.8 started to scream rythmically I braced for the work to be done. Turns out to be two diaphragm's, 20$ and 10 minutes work. |
