Tried it today: window down, key on the center console, close the door: put finger on the handle. Nothing. No lock, no sound, simply nothing.

however, with the fob inside as above, closed the doors, put arm through the window and pushed the lock button on the fob: all closes. And handles do not react. So I could not open the car by pulling a handle.

So what may have happened: walking to the car, open it, put stuff inside including the key, button gets pushed, car locks. close the door (pin is down, locked position) door closes and after that the car does not open any more from the outside.

Couldn't get the car to lock itself after opening. Can however, lock the car with one or more doors open and after closing the door(s) the car is locked.

next test: what happens if you have the engine running and walk away. I'd like to lock the car when it is running (for example if I want it to cool down before a trip) so no one can get in and drive off.

I know that the car will not start again without the key nearby but it will keep running untill it stops with or without the key.

I'll try to lock it with the second fob. Shouldn't work but not much suprises me any more.

I had to borrow someone's phone and call my wife, so she could bring the second set of keys. It definitely is possible to do it. I tried to replicate at home, and the doors would not lock, or they unlock immediately
BLUE DRAGON - I see the same thing when hitting the handles with the hose spray if fob is in my pocket... Instead of just setting the key fob inside, put it in the key slot in the dash, all will be well. No more locking/un-locking constantly during the wash.

I had this happen to me last month - keys were in jacket. Throw jacket in backseat with hand still on handle. As door is going shut, I can hear it lock.

Luckily, I was 50 miles from the nearest town and cost $250 to get it unlocked... the next morning...

Locksmith did his trick in less than 25 seconds. Alarm went off for a few seconds and then shut off. Pretty sure alarm is broken as well.
