Angry Bad new Bosch Replacement coils?

I have a 2007 e70 4.8l x5 It developed a miss on cylinder 5.
I put a new Bosch coil part #0221504470 and replaced the plug on cylinder 5 The miss continued.
I swapped and new coil with another original coil from cylinder 6 and the problem follows the new coil or the bad coil but not the other original coils.
I ordered two more new bosch coils #0221504470 from trusted RM european and they too show misses where they are put.
the original part number is different a bosch #0221504100 but at least aftermarket the 0221504470 is the only offered new replacement.
Seems to me my X5 wants a #0221504100 used from ebay?
Do all the coils have to be the same #? or what?

Bad new Bosch Replacement coils?

Check the depth of the boot on both of them, I haven’t checked the part numbers but I’m wondering if the electrode is deeper in the boot on the 70 vs the 100?

Thanks for the reply the new coils are the same length and I have made sure I have pushed down fully in place. Problem follows one original bad coil and all three attempted new replacements. I have tried moving the coils multiple times and it comfirms each time.

Same length top to bottom or same depth to the electrode inside the boot from the boot tip?

And, to confirm, the miss follows the new coil, correct? But if you put an old coil on 5, it no longer misses? Did I get that right?

I’ll dig in to both of those part numbers when I get home tonight and see if I can figure anything out

Oh, last thought, a used coil isn’t a bad thing, coils tend to last a VERY long time. So if you do end up grabbing a used one off eBay or other, you’ll probably be good to go.

I’ve seen cools go well over 200k miles with no issues.

What specific kind of spark plug did you install on cylinder 5?

Strong Theory Bosch Coils made in Solvenia are bad knock offs

Just talked to a private BMW mechanic I know, I tell him about how it seems three new aftermarket bosch coils are bad as is the one original from my X5. He asked do they say made in Germany or made in Solvenia on them. And then tells me he bought 6 of the made in Solvenia ones and they were all bad!! Comment makes DIY even harder when you can't depend on the new parts to be good

Something tells me it’s not the coil. Post what you find as a solution.

I am not dum ... the problem follows the coils period

the only way it could not be the coils is if the coils had to be introduced to the car and or they had to be a matched set. the bmw mechanic telling me he also bought 6 of same bosch coils from I do not know who labeled made in solvenia and they were all bad confirms. I have sent bosch a email asking about the problem. I will post here how it works out
