Aftermarket exhaust Megan Racing 35i

So...I'd originally started this thread over in the ///M section by mistake, and figured it might make more sense to start a new thread here in the general e70 section with the proper subject line for future searches. I paid $400 for this on ebay shipped to my door. It took my local muffler guy less than 1/2 hour to hang it and weld it. It's all stainless steel, and the craftsmanship is readily apparent. The factory muffler weighs 39 lbs., and the Megan weighs in at 25 lbs., so you gain performance just from the weight loss, but it does add a few HP too. The fit is great, and the sound is awesome, as you can tell from the driveway revs comparison. I'm going to post a couple of more "before and after" drive by videos when I get a chance.

Here's a photo after I'd taken the Sawzall to the old exhaust:

Sounds good dude! Well done. And any weight saved without compromises is a great thing!

Did you just plug the vacuum line for the stock exhaust then?

It looks much more beautiful than the factory setup, from the rear - for the price this is a great mod - I am planning on installing it on my wifes 35D as well ! I'm sure it won't make much more sound with the factory DPF in place, but it sure does clean up, give some nicer tips, and eliminate the big ugly "suitcase" from underneath the car -

I actually plugged it before I had the Megan installed. It does improve the exhaust note on startup and idle.

Hey OP - I am going to get one of these systems for my wifes diesel, that rear end looks so good I don't care that it won't give any better exhaust sound until I do the deletes ! - does it still say Megan Racing on the tips? And can you zoom in, are they slash cut tips or double walled? And where did you get yours? For the price, its a no brainer -

Thanks!

Is the OEM exhaust held on by a clamp or did you have to chop it? On a similar note, did you have to weld the new exhaust on or could you just clamp it?

Thanks in advance!
