E70 4.8 Valve Seals, best to buy?

I am going to be changing my valve seals and valve cover gaskets. Where would be the best place to purchase the seals/gaskets?

There’s a bunch of places to get those from, personally I like FCP Euro, they have great service and are usually very competitive on pricing and options.

When you buy your seals, make sure they are the revised VSS and not the original equipment “rubber” seals that fail again in 100k miles.

I also like FCP Euro. I don't recommend ECS, Turner or Bavarian Autosport.

What manufacturing brand makes revised VSS? Which one is the best? I purchased Victor Reinz brand.

You are most likely never redoing valve stem seals so I think ECS and Turner are fine. AZ Autohaus as well. FCP also good. Bav Auto is gone right?

Yes, Bav is either gone, or going, I haven’t looked recently but I wouldn’t buy from them knowing they’re closing up shop.

The revised VSS has a longer internal sleeve/neck/collar (whatever they call it) that doesn’t allow oil to pool up inside the seal like the original equipment did, I also believe they are made of a higher quality Viton rubber material than the original equipment as well, which (should) make them get less brittle over time

I bought Corteco, looked at Elring as well, even called BMW for OE revised seals but for what they wanted I went to FCP Euro.

Yes, Bav Auto is gone. ECS bought them out like they did Turner parts before. The parts sold by ECS and Turner are fine. I just don't like their service.

Unfortunately, no...

You will have to call and ask. I ordered revised VSS from FCPEuro and received new, old stock... old style VSS. They were kind enough to overnight the correct ones but it did set me back two days on my VSS job.

So what's the consensus? Haven't heard of Corteco, but AGA recommends Elring...

I think it’s hard to have a consensus. No matter what brand, no one ever really does it for a third time.
