4x4 Error after sitting a few months on tender

Ok folks - my 2010 4.8i started up with a Christmas Tree dash after sitting for 4 months on a battery tender.

The transfer case ECU looks perfect and my Indy checked and cleaned the connector pins (they look fine). The actuator motor gear is good (A700 case) and the motor was swapped but issues remained. Codes return immediately when cleared. Car drives fine although I have not “tested” ABS.

Here are the codes:

Dynamic stability control - 4 wheel

Current Fault Codes

I have the Bavarian Autosport Software and Cable. Is it possible that these codes are just not really clearing?

I can hope...

What battery tender did you use? How old is the battery? Are you sure the battery isn’t bad?

Battery tender is a major brand and has worked fine on other cars. Battery age is unknown. It’s a Varta and BMW branded. No low battery warning but I haven’t checked the running voltage yet. The vehicle started right up after storage.

Had it on the lift and reviewed the wiring - no issues. Completely checked out the interior - no rodents.

The new systems seem to divert current to the starter, and starve other components. Helps start cars when batts run low, but can result in odd errors from other modules when they dont power up properly.

In your case, through, it was on a tender...an now it is well charged and has multiple starts, with the same issues? hmmm. For $200, you prolly need one every 10 year at least..

Back to code clearing. Can you clear, then read codes without starting? Might not really be clearing them....

I’m willing to give battery replacement a try, I can’t find the date code on this battery anywhere. It is an AGM battery.

Sticker or label on top or stamped on one of the posts. With a proper diagnostic tool you can see when the battery was registered, assuming if it has been replaced that the installer followed the proper procedure.
