Hypothetically what happens if a buyer buys one of these deleted cars and has no idea that it has been done. Then later finds out from a state inspection or some such that it has been done. What legal trouble could the original seller then find themselves landing in.

I have no plans to delete but if I did I do with with the idea of never selling the car unless I put everything back on.
Many states currently do not have emissions test requirements for Diesel vehicles. In which case, there would be 'no issue' to speak of (even though it is, still illegal)

Of course, with the feds cracking down on diesel tuning, and the number of idiots out there that think 'rolling coal' is cool (and they are probably the reasons for the Feds cracking down, thanks a bunch), that could be subject to change in coming years..

Keep in mind when I say this that I'm an enthusiast at heart, and I like to mess with my cars, and have options to do so.

But on the other side of the coin, I don't enjoy being stuck in traffic behind some old car from the 60-70's with no emissions controls to speak of, and I suspect I wouldn't enjoy being stuck behind a deleted BMW either for the same reasons...

Maybe one day we will see hi-flow 'performance' DPFs and NoX cats that will support running higher horsepower without the need to stream black trailers behind and have others chocking on our fumes when they are stuck behind us in traffic..

Surely I'm not the only one interested in keeping our vehicles 'Clean Diesels' and making more power, am I? (https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...uip-place.html)
