Miles to empty suddenly very slow to respond?

Guys,
I have a little puzzle that is just an annoyance but I’m curious if anyone else has experienced it and knows of it can be changed.

Throughout my ownership, 5years, the remaining range (miles to empty) has been fairly quick to react to whether or not I’m towing. Typically, once I disconnect from my trailer the mpg jumps back up to the typical 25-26mpg (mixed driving). The range value changes pretty quickly in response to the mpg change. Within 5 miles, the range will have gone up to the avg mpg times the fuel in the tank. Last week I noticed that after I dropped the trailer in the paddock, the range didn’t climb up like it used to. I reset the avg mpg and filled the tank, but the range is only very slowly creeping back to where it should be.

It’s now been a couple days since I finished towing and the range is still only 75% of avg mpg times fuel in the tank.

Any ideas why my range indication has gotten lazy and is there a way to force a reset?

John
