Question CIC or What?

My new E70 has a rather interesting, or should I say very uninteresting, radio system in it. It has what appears to be 7 buttons on the controller in the console, but only the TEL, NAV, BACK, and OPTION buttons are real, the other three are nonfunctional dummies, intentionally. They don't push in at all. Despite the NAV button being functional, it appears I don't have any navigation.

There's a 6 disc changer of some kind in the glove compartment and a disc slot right under the radio as well, which leads me to believe it is some super basic CIC. A shot of the screen follows.

Is there a question?

Kuwait...lots of non EU, non-US cars have odd factory configurations. Take your vin and plug it into a decoder to see what it was built with.

The question was in the title. I'll put in the body next time. Do you have a VIN decoder site you recommend? Thank you.

A lot of the BMW VIN decoder sites have gone bust (or you have to pay)...but try this one...you’ll need to enter all 17 VIN digits (instead of just the last 7): bimmer.work : VIN Decoder for BMW

TIP: make sure you use the correct dialog box...there is usually click bait sites that are also asking for your VIN which will not give you the info you want.

I second that. bimmer.work website working as of yesterday when I tried it.

It was however giving me automatic transmission info on cars that clearly shows a manual stick on the used car dealer's website.

Ok, looks like your display is for the business nav and the controller is for the pro nav, I suspect that someone has updated the controller to the PRO as it looks better.

Flash update the cic and the controller and all the functions (buttons) will start working
