Sports Package 20" 335 Rear Tire (RFT) Expected Life
Having my Winters swapped for Summers and tires shop ordered run-flat Bridgestone to match the fronts, which are also run-flats. Strange thing is that the fronts are in a good shape, but rears are worn. Since it's cheaper to replace two RFTs than all 4 to be non-run-flats, I approved. Still it's odd because I ran winters from 2021-2022 (Nov thru May) and 2022-2023 from December through April 5. So that should have reduced tire wear of the RFTs rears. Tire codes on rears were 0719. 7th week of 2019. So my questions are: What is the expected life (mostly highway driving) for Sports Package 20" 335 rear tire both RFT and Non-Run-Flats? What can I do to reduce rear tire wear? |

Get a proper alignment. Dont pay attention to the BMW specs. Set it mid camber spec on ech axle, but balanced side to side. Front and rear will be different, but on each axle it should match Toe should be 0.01 to 0.02 toe in on each wheel. DO NOT be dissuaded. This will be an great (tire life) alignment. Your not tracking it, right? Ive posted a ton about alignments over on bimmerfest (before I quit ![]() |

I'll expand..tire life is DIRECTLY related to alignment. Not just "they checked and the machines said its aligned- all green"...
There is a LARGE window within which BMW will say 'its aligned'... due to the CAMBER bmws use for handling they are VERY sensitive to toe. With a cambered tire any toe will dramatically accelerate wear.... Hence you need to take control of your alignment and TELL them where- withing the BMW specs- you want YOUR car aligned.... There is a long and broad history of BMW owners using these recommendations. |

I will add: almost exclusively if you start having inner edge wear it's from the outer ball joint/bushing of the aft control arm. A perfect alignment means nothing if your tires toe out 1° every time you brake.
People think the inside edge wears from the camber: they are completely wrong. I drove 70,000 miles with no inner wear at all until my control arms failed. Once that happened the tires shredded in under two weeks!
