Can you get tire insurance in the UK and if so what are people paying?

Has anyone actually used the 20's with different tires and gotten good traction in snow? I would think anything on 20's would be bad in the snow.

As far as the RFT's, I'm about to find out how bad it is when I have to spend a few hundred because of a damn nail. My dealer never mentioned the tire insurance and I completely forgot to ask about it when I bought the car. Looks like about $417 on TireRack, because of a damn nail. Doesn't seem worth the RFT's to me but the 20" wheels are above and beyond worth it in terms of improving the look of the car. If I could've gotten the 20's with regular tires, I would have.

You paid for the insurance upfront and the replacement tire still cost you $354?

I've had a look around and a few people do offer it (e.g. the AA) - cost is about £45 per year or £70 for two years.

Oh No, the Insurance Company paid the whole amount ($354). It did not cost me anything except for the up front Tire Insurance cost. The dealer took care of the insurance claim for me.

Ok, that makes sense... was gonna say what's the point of the tire insurance if you end up paying most of the cost anyway..........

I may have to get on my dealer because they never offered the tire insurance.

Try to haggle as much as possible because the dealer makes between 300 - 460% profit on it based on what I know.

I have no issues with Run Flats. Problem is availablity. Here in Switzerland it there are no 19'' winter run flats available at the moment. BMW made an offer for winter tyres and they cannot even supply... Pretty crap service and planning I would say
