Good news for 08 - Illumnated Light switch
SUBJECT Interior Light Switch Illumination MODEL E70 (X5) Vehicles produced from start of production to May 19, 2007 SITUATION The interior light switches in the Roof Functions Center (FZD) do not illuminate when the vehicle lights are turned on. GENERAL INFORMATION [GRUSB6307U87.JPG]Please be aware that this is normal operation. Vehicles produced up to May 19, 2007 do not have this function. An attempt to upgrade a customer vehicle to the new functionality either by parts replacement or coding is not possible. WARRANTY INFORMATION Information only. |

Thanks for sharing.. I noticed people complained about this but mine had the illumination so thought it was due to having the 'light package', now I know, mine is an '07 August build.

BMW ignored lighting many important places.
Dome lights in the rear & and wiper switch behind steering wheel do not get illuminated. Locating them in the dark is really hard! |

Thanks for the info, it really is difficult to find the switch at night. Hope my new one has the ilumination.

On the X3 and old 3-series, when you hit the light switch, there was a reassuring "click". But on the E90, its just........not there anymore. Same goes for the steering wheel buttons. |
