Sports suspension
Could be that I am totally confused but : a) is the sport suspension really uncomfortable ? b) am I right in assuming you can switch it on and off ? Will chase it up with my dealer as well but would appreciate anybody sharing their experience. tks Sam |

[quote=Yosemite_sam]When I ordered my E70 with the M package I opted to leave out the sports suspension as I had heard it made for a very harsh ride. Now I am reading some other posts and it seems that if you have sports suspension you also get a button to switch between sport and normal.

I think the sport ride is fantastic but this is also very subjective. What I like you may not. Your best bet is to test drive both and decide for yourself. I would not characterize the ride as "harsh" in anyway. I aslo opted for the 19's which provide a little more cushion then say a 20" or bigger wheel.

Like marx5 said, in the USA it comes with adaptive handling, if it comes with yours, add the option. Not only does it provide a firmer/sportier feel, with a push of a button.....changes the responsiveness of the electronic throttles, so that less input with your foot on the accelerator pedal yields more output from the throttles than when in normal mode.

marcx5: I read it at another post, but what the dealer told me it feeds more fuel, so it either 1) feeds more fuel or 2) changes the responsiveness of the electronic throttles, so that less input with your foot on the accelerator pedal yields more output from the throttles than when in normal mode. I think it is number 2 since that is pretty much the function of the e46 M3's.

I think I would have to disagree with you. The sport button is not linked to the throttle response, the tiptronic is. The sport button firms up the suspension to decrease body roll amd firm up the electro-magnetic fluid in the absorbers. I have not noticed any more throttle response when activated. Can you provide some official BMW literature to validate your comment?

Denalio: I am only quoting from a post and what BMW dealer told me when I picked up the vehicle. I will try to acquire more information and I will post is ASAP.
Found this article : http://www.caranddriver.com/previews...07-bmw-x5.html, this may be some interest: Press the Sport button on the center console and a different handling map will shore up the footwork with more aggressive valving and anti-roll bar settings. |

The Z4 Sport Button increases the throttle sensitivity, which may be where the dealer got the idea.
