Picked up my SD

Collected my SD today fromt he dealer, very impressed with it on the whole. I previosuly had a 535d with the same engine, the engine sounds noticeably more sporty in the X5 which is great! Only done some town driving in it so haven't really given it a chance to stretch it's legs, if it's anything like my 535d it will loosen up noticeably over the first few thousand miles.

My only minor critisicism is the bump absorbtion of the suspension. I have the dynamic pack (so sports supsension and also have specced the 20" wheels). The car rides very well but when going over the many speed bumps or speed tables that we have near where I live the suspension tends to crash a bit. Noticeably worse than my 535d M Sport. Almost like it bounces off the stops sometimes.

I specced the auto tailgate which I can confirm on my car can be closed with the key fob (sorry all of you in the US). However, it is not one touch you have to hold the button down like the window shutting. Already I think it is easier to use the button on the tailgate. You aren't missing much in the US in my opinion!

I am also glad to see that at long last BMW have fitted a decent locking wheel nut. As I know to my cost the one's fitted before were a waste of time.

No pictures as it was dark when I got home.

Thanks for the review... is there currently any hesitation at all when you step on the gas from a dead stop?

About the sports suspension.. don't you have the option of turning it off with the sport button near the shifter? Would it make the ride softer?

There is absolutely no hesitation when pulling off, also you can't notice where the second turbo kicks in. The sports suspension in the Dynamic Pack is just firmer springs/dampers it's not active ride which is what I think you are referring too.

Nice one Fredo, I also picked my SD up Friday night.
I've got the 21" wheels and adaptive drive and its very smooth when not in sport setting. Having said that I actually prefer he sport mode maybe because I have a 530 M Sport which has hard suspension.

Anyway I will take and post pictures also within the next day.

The ride generally is excellent, better than my 535d M SPort was. It's just the bump absorbtion which is worse, which I find a bit strange.
