08 X5 4.8! specced out by me and due in March! Is this a good deal?
MSRP: $73,320.00 Sale price (Cap Cost): $68,006.33 Car will be built in two weeks and be here in mid March (I custom ordered it) 36months/15k per year: $1101 + tax per month total out of pocket fees: $2000 (see below for breakdown) Security fee is waived since I am a current BMW financial customer I insisted on doing the deal at $500 over invoice, but I have noticed some miscellaneous fees which make up the $2000. These are title fees $201, processing fee $295, Acq Fee $685, MACO fee $200, Training fee $180, and $439 is put towards down payment. Do you guys think this is a good deal? thanks RezF |

rezf,
The cap cost is a great deal, but the rest of your numbers don't compute. If I understand your deal, payment should be about $975/mo. plus any applicable sales tax. (Do you live in a state where you pay tax on the monthly payment, or is sales tax on the entire purchase price added to the cap cost?) Current BMWFS money factor for X5 4.8i is .00255, and the residual s.b. 58%. As a returning BMWFS lease customer, see if they still have the loyalty MF reduction of .001 (pretty significant monthly payment reduction). For what it's worth, I've got a slightly more expensive X5 for $999/mo. with $2K out of pocket. Didn't get nearly the discount you describe, but got the loyalty MF discount. Make them stick to the cap cost and clean up the other BS/errors in the lease payment calculation.

Thanks for your detailed post. In my state the sales tax is added to the monthly payment (VA). But the price I quoted you was without sales tax, just to keep "apples to apples". I have plugged the values in to my lease calculator program, even including the BS fees, and I come up short $70 per month. (Their numbers are $70 more per month) A question: Is the Acq fee paid upfront or is it residualized in the lease? |

What money factor are you using? BMWFS will allow the dealer to mark this up by .0004 (equivalent to about 1% annual interest), which is the "YSP" referred to in the link above = dealer profit.

Are you sure the figure is $625? He showed me $685 and showed me other sales where they have charged $825. anyhow, this figure is put into the upfront fees. The MF is 0.00255 and there is NO owner loyalty program currently for X5 |

Isn't this a difficult question to answer? (Is this a good deal?) The best individuals can do is evaluate the amount paid for the vehicle, inclusive of fees.
The FICO score would determine what tier credit one has, and therefore, what the MF will be. So, a lower FICO score would mean a higher payment. Am I wrong about this? Joel |
