Navigation DVD upgrades covered by Extended Maintenance?

Are Navigation DVD version upgrades covered under Extended Maintenance? I have a new 2008 X5 and I'm wondering if BMW will give me the Navteq upgrades automatically or whether I'll have to purchase them if I want them.

Quicksilver and Wagner,
I did use Search and couldn't find the answer there..

In Canada you get one update following the purchase year.

Well, I guess it's time to resurrect this question that I asked previously (now that the new Navteq 2008.1 version is out).

Anyone know if upgrade will be covered by dealers or by BMW for "relatively" new X5's?

Good luck from the dealer, but I seriously doubt it. I know Navteq will give you the 1 finger salute.

How new is this new 2008.1 dvd because I see it listed under 2007 there. I have a Jan '08 build. I also am wondering if we're supposed to get new annual DVDs during our scheduled maintenance... probably not eh? If not then when - never free?

The 2008.1 DVD has only come out during the last few days. It does not really mean anything that it's listed under the 2007 BMW model...

Denalio said that, in Canada, they get free one free update.

Actually i believe this issue may be driven by region. I have never heard of it being done locally but in Canada? Who knows, In London who Knows? In some other area who Knows? If it comes with the package where you are then that's a good thing but is it a standard provision across the board i'm inclined to doubt it.

UPDATE: now the SA tells me no update from the dealer. I have to buy the update directly through NavTec.

You'd think an "update" would be cheaper than $200.
