Question Any DIY E 70 Oil Changers???

How much oil capacity does the 4.8 have with the filter?? I have looked in my manual, the BMW site, and used the search function here and can't find it. Thanks for your help.

not sure that is anywhere near correct. my 330 takes 7 qts and that is a 3.0. i think it is in the area of 9 qts but don't quote me.

i will have a definitive answer this week as i am doing my first @ 6800 miles +/-.

call the service department at your dealer.

Damn...I just poured through the '07/'08 E70 Manuals, handily found
on the front page of this site and, there are no oil capacities listed.

Kowabunga: we are truly in the age of TurnKeyLease'Em & Leave,
for the Biff&BuffyBrigade.

From my memory, my '01 3.0 takes 8 qts...and the 4.4 V8s take 8.5 qts.
I'd bet the 4.8 is real close to that 8.5 quart req'.

The poster that suggested "5 qts" must have just gotten off his shift
at the QwickLube,

No oil capacity...we are WalmartNation. Shame on BWM, imo.

1 Buy 9 quarts & Filter
2 Drain oil into a pan
3 Remove filter and also drain into same pan
4 Measure how much oil is in pan
5 Refill with same amount
6 Start engine to fill filter
7 Check oil level (Electronic dip stick sucks)
8 Add some oil to adjust
9 Drive and enjoy

Not unless you want to have one done before their ridiculous 15,000 mile interval. Then you'll have to pay the dealer for the oil change, which won't be cheap.
