How about when you turn off the ignition and the doors do not auto-unlock. You have to pull the handle twice to get them open. I had an 04 Denali before this and you could change the setting to lock or unlock when the ignition was turned off. I lost a bet with my wife that you could do the same with the X5. I searched for 30 mins and no dice.

Or, hit the button on the center stack once and everyone's free.

I hear ya...but often times I am solo hence am the only one getting out. Then I have to run back out to the garage to get something (always seems from the pass side) and the damned door is locked. I may invest it have it "coded" to unlock auto.

Honestly, I never use the double-pull "feature" to unlock, and 90% of the time, it's just me. Here's my sequence when exiting...

1) Hit "P" on shift lever
2) Hit unlock button on center stack
3) Hit mirror button on drivers door
4) Hit Start/Stop button
5) Exit
6) Either use my FOB to lock, or touch my door handle to lock (I have CA)

It's like I'm docking a spaceship, sometimes.

You have to keep the ign key separate from your key ring otherwise you will scratch the crap out of the wood grain dash.

hey guys, so ive been reading some of these posts and it sounds like a lot of people are complaining about the same thing! I just bout a bmw x5 3.5d....i get about 25-28 city and about 32-35 mpg hgw. Maybe you should all consider switching over and the torque is amazing, and its not slow for what it is.

Also i live in ny and there are plenty of people who can format ur idrive. For example:

I no longer hav the safety message come up it goes straight to the navi
my side mirrors go in after holding the lock button for 3 seconds
the tail gate as well closes from the lock button
i have Greek as my main language which is awesome..(u can choose any language u want)
i dont have to pull the handle twice anymore
my windows go up even if the door is open

there are hundreds of mods you can do and all these are pre installed

devaluation
putting km's/miles on it
my 3.0Si acceleration seems delayed as my E46 325i seems a lot more smooth and instant
bringing it to mech's Thursday tho to check if that's normal (i'm a car guy so i'm not sure if that's normal for these SAV's)

The 3.0si is N/A, so the delay is nothing to worry about. It is not easy for that l6 to power an SUV like the X5 without the help of forced induction. Considering this, it does it pretty well!
