Talking Baby Got Some New 20" Shoes

After months of drooling over the Style 214's, I finally took the plunge and upgraded my 19" run flats with 20" 214's with Michelin Latitude Touring all seasons. I also removed the flat fender flares and installed the wider flares. I think that these updates really make the car look much better...more aggressive and less generic SUV.

I have to say that after having my last 3 BMW's with run flats, the change back to all season tires really makes a difference. No more teeth chattering ride and tramlining! While BMW has made significant strides over past 4 years in run flats, they are still not as smooth riding as the non run flats. I debated about getting the Dunlop run flats, but glad that I decided on the Michelins. The steering is a bit lighter, but given the rather heavy feel of the standard rack with run flats, I'm happy with the new found lightness. I'm going to purchase the mobility kit in case of a flat (fingers crossed).

Here's some before and after pics after I washed and detailed the beast.

Wow! It really looks much better with the 20", same with the fender flares.

Are those OEM rims? My dealer told me that the OEM 20s can't fit with the conventional tyre which is non-runflat tyre, than again, most of the time the dealer doesn't know what they're talking about.

What do you do with the TPM sensor?

You cheated a little by snapping the 19's when it was overcast and the 20's when it was sunny....

.... but hell yeah, they look awesome!!!

Tell me something, did you have your front sides tinted or is that standard and the rears are part of the rear climate pack??

I mean, why wouldn't you? Looks great. I don't understand why people don't go for the 20's unless they do a lot of driving in snow in the winter.

Interesting what you say about the run flats even though you've got bigger wheels. I changed out the run flats on my old 535d and really noticed a difference I did wonder if it would make such a difference with the X5 as it has obviously been designed all along for them. Apparently it does!

Hmmm...20" in Y-spoke wheels that are only an option on the 4.8i (in the USA at least), titanium mesh in the front, titanium double kidney grill and you de-badged your 3.0si from the side.

While it looks great...you have a 3.0si. If you wanted a 4.8i so badly, you should have just bought one.

This is like people putting an AMG badge on the back of a C230 MBZ sedan. Without being too rude...it's kind of childish, to "pretend" you have a car, that you don't.

Just be happy with what you have man. Most people would kill to have a new 3.0si X5.
