2007 Trailer Hitch and Wiring Harness

I will try this again. Here are the pictures of my new trailer hitch and BMW X5 wiring harness. Trailer hitch is a Hidden Hitch purchased on eTrailer. The trailer hitch did not require any cutting of the rear bumper facia as shown in the pictures. Total cost of this setup was $680 including the reflash by BMW dealer.

Distance from ground to lowest part of hitch, which is the bottom of the receiver is 12 inches.

you can get a dealer hithc for less then $500 with everything. so in comparison its more.
but no cutting of bumper so this install may be cheaper as well, if I recall a dealer wants $1000 to sell and install but that is not at a discount on the part.

Why does the ECU need to be "reprogrammed"?

Nice install

A few questions about the install:
- do you have the exact model number for the hitch? A search on that site did not show a hidden hitch for the 2008 model year. i think only a Curt showed up?
- who did your install? Did you do it yourself? or have an installer do it?
- the site says that cutting is required...do you know how you avoided this?

thanks!
