Question - Sports suspension
(option nr. 225) Driving the car I have to say the handling is very good but ride comfort is terrible. Each and every little bump in the road is sent straight up your spine (despite comfort seats) and especially given the general (lousy) condition of the belgian roads the overall driving experience is quite tiring. When I chose for the BMW over the Merc/Audi I fully realised that I was chosing for handling over comfort but I never expected such a rough ride. (originally test drove standard X5 with 19"rims and that was fine). One of the things I would like to check out is if BMW possibly did deliver the car with sport suspension. Will ask my dealer but wanted to know if there is any way that I can see if the Sport suspension is installed or not ? tks Sam

Sam, the runflats are 75% of the ride (dis)comfort. I will ditch mine this summer. They are really harsh!

Went from 19" sport runflats to 20" non-runflats and the difference is very noticeable. It got MUCH softer switching out of runflats. Sport suspension or not, it's still softer than when I had the 19s.

For the rest REALLY love the car but every time I commute to work I need to get the fillings in my teeth re-inserted

Even with the Adaptive Drive and 21’’ 128 rims, the ride remains harsh? Do you know of any other tyre company that offers non run flat tyres for the 21’’ rims? Kind Regards ekelly |

get a set of coilovers and adjust the softness yourself

Dunlop makes exactly the same tires as I have now (oem ones), but without the runflat 'additions'. They are cheaper too and weigh less ! |

M pack as far as I know automatically comes with sports suspension. I have it although I took adaptive drive which I think helps. It is firm though.

+1 on the RFTs. My parents have a 325i sport, and the suspension/ride is just fine when it runs on winter tires. But put on the OEM RFT summer tires, and I have to brace myself for impact. Plus, they make so much noise that a friend asked why BMW would allow such a thing.
