You cannot change the nav screen colour on the 2007 or 2008 X5. I asked too, since I find Browns not so appealing. Lexus on the other hand allows you to choose brown, blue, green or a silver/gray. Mercedes used to allow colour changes, but I am pretty sure they stopped it. Sorry!

Are you sure there isn't an option to change the color scheme? They had that in the settings, in the E53's.

I just accepted that it wasn't possible, but if it is, I'd love to know. The brown and BMW really don't go together. Light blue, at least.. come on.

I couldn't agree more! Fortunately and unfortunately, BMW isn't as concerned with the bells and whistles as Lexus and more into the performance of their cars. For that reason, it's great - it's why we all buy them. On the flip side of the coin, when spending that much for a car, there is little reason not to design the bells and whistles to please.
I've gone through a bunch of cars (when I say a bunch, I mean Range Rover HSE and LR3, Lexus RX and LX, Jeep GC, Tahoe LTZ, Audi S6 and Q7, BMW M5, Porsche Boxter and 911s, and more...) and in terms of SUVs, the X5 is one of the best. However, the Range Rover and Lexus have better navigations (by far), Audi has a better user interface (one of the best, I think) and I haven't met anyone yet who loves the iDrive setup. Porsche JUST (and it's about time) listened to their dealers and owners and updated their PCM (Porsche Communication Management) system for '09 to a touch screen, bluetooth, better nav, etc. As much as I love my X5, which I really do, the Porsche Cayenne GTS is one spectacular car now that they've made those changes to the '09. Fortunately for BMW, it's about 20k more once optioned out.
