Newbie - just placed my order today

Hi Everyone,

My first post here. I just placed an order for a 2008 X5 3.0. It will have the following:

Monaco Blue/Sand Beige Nevada Leather/Dark Burl Walnut Trim
Premium Package
Technology Package
Cold Weather Package
Rear Climate Package
Rear Seat Entertainment (this item made it a custom order)
3rd Row Seat
Automatic Tailgate
Comfort Access
Running Boards
iPod and USB Adapter

The vehicle really is for my wife (and 5 year-old and large dog etc). She drives like a grandma so no need for the larger engine or Sport Package, but she was very impressed with the sedan-like ride/handling/braking of the X5. We hope to receive the vehicle in 4-6 weeks time.

The X5 replaces a 2006 Lexus GX470 with every option (including the rare Sport Package with Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System that vastly improves onroad and offroad behavior). We loved that vehicle and were 90% ready to order a 2009 version of exactly the same thing, but the dealership did something dumb and made us consider other brands a few days ago, so here we are and very much looking forward to the experience.

If anybody wants a comparison of the GX470 vs the X5 I would be happy to provide that - we also used to have an Acura MDX and a Lexus RX300. Other current vehicles include a 2007 Lexus IS350 and an old Mazda Miata for fun.

"Sand Beige" interior with a 5 year old and large dog? Wow, brave soul. We also just got rid of our Lexus GX for the Range Rover HSE. My wife loved it, but I just hated it. Drove well, but the the "driving position" for the driver was just oriented for a woman and not a man. I hate sitting so high and not being able to move the seat back as much as I like.

Congrats on your purchase. It's a great car - you'll love it (and welcome to the site!)

The large dog is a Golden Retriever - his pillow-loads of shed hair will subtly blend into the Sand Beige carpets and leather never to be noticed (actually he won't travel in the car that often - maybe once a week - and we will be getting a cargo liner/mat).

The 5 year old is a neat freak (like her mother) and has left fewer marks/stains on walls and carpets of our new house than I have in the last 3 years. We are getting the rubber floor mats for spills however...

I agree the high seating position of the GX took some getting used to for me, but my 5' tall wife loved it. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Congrats!
The interior will need some looking after with the little one and dog!

Looks great! I have a very similar vehicle on order. Different exterior and interior colors, but nearly the exact same options for the same reasons. I hemmed and hawed over the premium audio package for a while but opted out after I considered who'd be driving it the most.
