SO DO YOU THINK THE VALUE OF THE X5 IN IN THE TOILET
NOW WITH GAS PRICES THE WAY THEY ARE? ALOT OF MANUFACTURES ARE SLOWING DOWN PRODUCTION ON SAV/SUV IN USA... I WONDER WHAT THE SALES #'S WILL BE THIS PAST MONTH ON THE X5

I THINK IT WILL BE OK BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE INTERESTED IN X5 ARE NOT TOO CONCERNED WITH GAS PRICES. /caps

Buy a Pruis instead of an X5 if you care about fuel prices right now - its only going to get worse

While I'm not too concerned about gas prices, I will admit to being a bit disappointed in the gas mileage of the X5. I've got a fullsized 2005 Dodge Power Wagon with a 5.7L HEMI that gets 14.5 city and 17.5 highway and it's about as aerodynamic as a brick.
The PW has a curb weight of about 6,800 (as optioned), and I'd guess our X5 is about 5,600 (as optioned, but I haven't weight it yet). Love the X5, but I guess my expectations from BMW were higher. |

LeMansX5 posted this a while back. If you ask him, he may be able to give you some newer stats.
http://www.xoutpost.com/attachments/x...g?d=1212778259 Sales of SUV's are down big time because of gas prices and peoples conceptions of SUV's in general. The trend has moved to fuel efficiency and sales numbers on high mpg cars have been increasing as fast as the SUV sales have been decreasing. Look at Mini sales for exmple. Some dealers aren't even accepting trade ins for SUV's as they have so many sittting on the lot these days. I know the value on my 02 4.4 has taken a huge hit over the last year or so. I really didn't anticipate that when I bought it as BMW has typically had very good resale value. I guess I bought the wrong car at the wrong time when it comes to resale. Love the X5 though. Maybe with the introduction of the TT engines in the new model gas mileage will get better.

at chevron 2 weeks ago its was at 4.40 and now its 4.37... so gas prices are slowly goin down here in miami.. so dont change your suv for a yaris or something...
but if you are gonna keep crying about the gas prices, you know the saying. |

A friend of mine purchased a Toyota hybrid SUV and only gets 2 mph better than the X5 3.0.
We do the same type of driving. It really depends on the type of terrain one will be driving in. |
