You can actually fit 2 full size car seats in the third row seat, lower the 3/4 seats in the middle row and one person in the middle row can tend to the kids in the back. It's not as convenient like a minivan but it works.

Would you have to press the sport button to notice the difference in adaptive drive? My understanding was that pressing sport button gives pretty much the same effect as having an all-time sport suspension.

I didn't even try the sports button until 2 weeks ago. I drove the first 8000k's or so with it turned off to get a good feel for it, and now I've turned it on for a while to do the same. To be honest, I haven't noticed any difference - whether that's because it's too subtle for me or just because I have adaptive drive I don't know.

Interesting - although I'd be very reserved in putting two infants right by the rear like that (and aren't they supposed to be rear-facing?). When I sat in the 3rd row at the lot, my head was nearly touching the rear glass so they are pretty far back there - in the event of a rear-end collision, that wouldn't seem like a good place for them in my opinion.

I also don't believe you can fit 2 car seats rear-facing back there, as I already have to keep my front seats forward some to fit the car seats in the middle rear-facing. Toddlers and up for forward-facing probably.

Sorry, I meant forward facing toddlers. It doesn't apply to rear facing infant seats.

Hi Guys,
I am a newbie to the site and am considering changing my current E60 530i M-Sport for an X5 3 ltr D Exec. Sport. I have a 3 yeard old a 1 year old and another on the way...yes i know i am crazy . I was interested in this thread becasue I though i had read somewhere that the 3rd row in the X5 did not have anchor points for child restraints. Can someone confirm for me if you can mount child seats in the thrid row (forward facing)?

Yes - Can confirm, child seats cannot (legally) be mounted in the 3rd row seats. There are no achor points, and the manual states child seats are not to be mounted in the rear seats.
If you need to mount 2 child seats, and still have access to the 3rd row seats, send me a private message and I'll send you an couple to possible solutions.
