wavy OEM 20" because can't rotate

I am leaving for a short driving trip and dropped by my dealer to ask about excessive tire noise, especially left rear on 2008 OEM 20". The service manager heard the noise during the test drive then took it in back for maybe 10 minutes.

He took me to left rear tire and had me feel the inside of the thread which I think he described as 'wavy'. Anyway, he said that were it possible to rotate every 5K this kind of thing would be minimized.

I only have 10K on these things but don't plan to return to the same tires and now am wondering about the benefits of taller tires on the rear. Any suggestions?

Bridgestone makes an all season (non-unidirectional) tire which you can at least swap left and right. Theoretically you can also rotate your current setup (swap left and right), but it would require dismounting and remounting the tires off of the rims. But at least it's a start. Most treadware will occur on the inner of the tires, since the rear wheels have negative camber setting (better for cornering). So if you dismount the tires, swap, then remount, at least you'd even out the treadwear pattern.

Are the TPMs matched to an axel/side? In other words, if you move a wheel from the rear to the front, and you have a leak, would it display the tire in the rear as low?

You should reset your TPMS any time you do something to your wheels/tires. Reset and create a new baseline for the monitoring system, so any deviation from the baseline will then set off an alert.

Here is a funny story. I just took off the style 211 19" and replaced the 214 20" at a local tireshop. They put the 19" in the back for me to take home. On the way home, I tried to reset my TPMS, I am not sure if it's because there are also 4 additional sensors in the back of the car -- I could NOT reset it... until I unloaded the wheels after I got home.
