Questions about retrofit
I just bought an X5 2009, 3.0d. The onboard monitor is a small screen without the TV tuner. Is it possible to change it to the wider monitor with tv tuner card? Also is it possible to retrofit active steering now? Thank you very much. |

Since you just bought a 2009 model, I assume it is new so I have to ask the obvious question, Why didn't you order the vehicle with these options you want?

Didnt realise steering would be so hard without active steering when I ordered it. Also the test drive car had a bigger screen, and was told by the dealer this one would have the same thing without the tuner card in it.

The larger LCD screen is part of the Tech pkg with NAV. Therefore all the connectors and wiring will be specific for cars with NAV. I don't think you can take just the LCD screen and plug it into a vehicle without the Tech pkg. as all the electronics tie in together.
You may be able to retrofit the complete NAV system into the vehicle which will then have the arger LCD screen. However you are looking at several thousands $$$ to do so. Once you have the NAV system, you can install a TV module. I have not seen any cars that have TV without the complete NAV pkg. As for active steering, again you can probably retrofit the control unit and steering parts, but again it ties into so many electronic components that it would almost be impossible! Sorry wish I had better news for you, but you will be better off getting a vehicle with these options rather than trying to retrofit everything! |
