Sharing the pain, kerbed my wheel!

It was the inevitable and unfortunately it was today. She almost reached her first birthday (11 months and 33,000km) without a single incident - no scratches whatsoever on paint or rims until now.

Went into an underground carpark which was quite tight and thought I had cleared the kerb before swinging wide to take a corner, then heard CRUNCH! Oh dear, I couldnt bear to look!

I have posted a few pictures to share the pain, as I know a lot of members here, especially with the 20s, would feel the same. The pictures dont look too bad actually, but is definately deeper in the flesh. Will get it repaired as soon as I have the time - just looks so ugly!

I feel your pain. I have had my X for 3 months, and one of my 20's have already been repaired once.

They fill the damaged parts with metal, and then repaint the entire wheel. It cost me about $175 for the wheel. My dealer did an excellent job on it, and it looked new. I need to get the same wheel repaired again.

BTW, it should take a good couple days (3+) to fix the wheel if you want it done right. I got my dealer to give me one of their 20's (different style) while my wheel was being repaired.

Ouch ouch ouch, mate that brings tears to the eyes.
I hate these car parking places that have massive curbs and the ones that have the high so called wheel stops that rip off the front aero skirts on cars. I try to avoid these parking areas like the plague but sometimes you dont have any choice but to go in to the car parks.
I was at our local Mitre 10 hardware the other day and saw a guy in a Monaro smash the front of his car in to one of these high curbs and holy cow this guy went absolutely ballistic when he got out to see the damaged front skirt. It's like driving in to a mine field with your car these days and having to try and miss all the huge concrete blocks that they place in and around the car parking areas.

Ouch - I've come close to curbs, especially after I put the spacers in the rear. I think your pictures are burned into my memory now and I'll be even more careful in tight spaces. Good luck.

I remember the first time it happened to me in a parking lot. I wasn't used to 315 width tires and the turn was definitely tight. I thought I learned my lesson but at a Wendy's drivethru there's a tight exit-turn and tire marks all over the tall curb... yup, I still hit it. I haven't repaired them yet since it seems like it is inevitable. If I go quite a while without another incident I'll get it fixed.

I looked up what's involved and here's a good guide though the professionals probably have a different way.

I've done a number on my 214's as well, both front and rear. I'm not getting it patched for a while...
