Haha you guys crack me up. Not using car washes and such. In buffalo my car gets laced in salt every day and I need to get a quick wash twice a week or more. What the hell am I suppose to do go outside with a bucket of warm water and my cashmere sweater in 0 degrees and start rubbing her down like a 1960 250 gt. I will sac bunt my paint finish all day to have a clean car and more annoying clean wheels at all times. Keep in mind we dont have many quality hand washes in the area, buffalo is a thifty city!

I've only hand-washed my car but it's a bit tough when it's fricken 20F outside. I have not done it for a few weeks now after a light snowstorm... I can see the dirt/salt on it... poor thing. The damn hose is frozen too.

I never have a problem with the rears on the 214's at my place. Member poleposition has the 215's on his X and no problems there either. However, our place is a fairly new system.

I use an automated hand car wash regularly for my X5 with 214s and my 2001 330i. It is a hand wash but pulls the car through on tracks. No problems or scratches on rims. I am sure the car wash I go to sees wider tires than my 20" rims (it sees a lot of high-end cars).

I hate dirty cars (and wheels), and I don't have the time or inclination to wash both cars myself once a week (or more). I also have a four day clean car guarantee at my car wash. I do tend to wash and wax the cars myself every three months or so.

Anyway, if I didn't have kids or I had a less time-demanding job, I would wash the cars myself, but washing cars is not my hobby like it once was.

Come on over to my place each week in the winter and wash mine. Unfortunately, working in Manhattan and traveling constantly for business doesn't allow me to wash my car like I used to, when I was younger. And trying to convince my wife to do it when I'm not around is just silly. She'd probably do more damage to the car. LOL!

I get my cars detailed every 3 months, so it really doesn't matter. My cars look like new all the time.
