Yes, 1K over invoice is a decent deal. Just make sure that you see the invoice or understand what is in it. Some dealers add other items to the invoice (mine does) like dealer prep or advertising costs. So in reality, the price can be more than the 1K.
Go to edmunds.com to price your X5 and get the true invoice. |

Thanks, bigx5er. Yes, the $1K inlcudes the deal prep and advertising. There is a $2500 holiday credit currently offering by BMW, so the the dealer actully making $3.5k profit on this.

I'd say you got a great deal if you kept the holiday cash...While many people on the forum will say $500 to $1000 over invoice is what dealer is supposed to make, I was not able to get there on a BMW. I settled at $2000 which included advertising and detailing fees, which are all profit for them. you may find them treating you better later on if you don't squeeze the last dollar out of the deal. In summary, you could try to get half of the holiday cash and still keep the dealer satisfied.

I ordered a 2010 3.0 a few weeks ago and was able to easily get $500 over invoice with little haggling....all via email. If I add the Holiday Credit, I would be getting the car essentially for $2k under invoice. I contacted my salesperson about it since the Holiday Credit wasn't available at the time that I placed my order and he told me it wasn't a problem. I should be able to utilize whatever promotions BMW is offering at the time of delivery.
For those who couldn't get from $500-1000 over invoice (not including rebates and credits), then you need to find another salesperson or dealer. |
